Nominating Criteria

HONORS OF THE ASSOCIATION is the highest honor NCSHLA can give. Honors of the Association shall be conferred in recognition of consistent, long-term, distinguished contributions to the Association or to the communication disorders profession. It may be conferred on an Active or Life member of the Association by a two-thirds vote of the Board of Directors, upon the recommendation of the Membership and Recognition Committee. A member so nominated must be a Life member or an Active member in good standing for at least the previous five consecutive years. Nominations for Honors of the Association may be submitted by any Active or Life member when seconded by two additional Active members.

HONORARY MEMBERSHIP may be conferred by a two-thirds vote of the Board of Directors, upon the recommendation of the Membership and Recognition Committee. Honorary membership is conferred on persons not otherwise eligible for NCSHLA membership, in recognition of service to the Association and/or the profession. Honorary members have all privileges of the Association, except voting and holding office. Nominations for Honorary Membership may be submitted by any Active or Life member when seconded by two more Active members.

There can up to two nominators: primary and secondary. Both nominators, who must be Active or Life members of the Association, must sign a letter of support, describing the contributions or accomplishments of the nominee which make that nominee worthy of consideration.
